Yoga Instruction

Yoga is an escape from our highly competitive and demanding society. It is not a competition with yourself or anyone else.  This is a meaningful practice about you and your personal needs on any given day. It is a time to push the limitations of “I can’t” aside and see what you CAN do. Yoga sessions at Square One can be catered towards a specific sport or core muscle groups to aid in relaxation, flexibility, and strength development. These sessions meet you where you are currently at, so you can improve at a pace that is suitable for your body.

Keep it simple. If you can breathe, you can yoga!

Yoga is you time...

Yoga should not be an intimidating concept and practiced only by an elite few.  With a 5,000 year existence record, yoga has proved to be a great way to strengthen innate human functions. It is not some fad diet or workout plan, instead it raises awareness and encourages you to focus on what you already possess within your own body.

Simply put, yoga is breath control and simple meditation coupled with specific postures to promote health and relaxation. Some people hear meditation and freak out thinking, “Oh gosh all that OMMMMM and fingers together chanting stuff.” Not quite. Meditation in its simplest form is just awareness of the present moment and where you are currently.

Who couldn’t use an hour a day where all stresses are set aside and the only focus is the present moment? An hour where the outside world doesn’t exist. An hour where it is just your mind working with your body: following cues to relax and reset. An hour escape for you.

What should you expect?

Each session will guide you through a sequence of 26 poses that work every part of your body from bones to skin. This practice is focused on a personal, meditative experience and a connection with your own body on each given day. So unlike other yoga practices, all levels are welcome in each session. Instruction is provided for guidance through each pose to help students at all levels enhance technique and form to maximize the benefits of the practice.

A warm/hot environment will be utilized where it is possible because when poses are performed in elevated temperatures sweating is induced and cardiovascular activity is increased. This sensation will aid in oxygenating the blood for intensified body rejuvenation and reset.

What are the benefits?

Yoga targets the entire body. With a consistent commitment to this low impact practice you will see a change in your strength, balance, lung capacity, and flexibility. The most notable bodily changes will be seen in your arms, core, legs, glutes, and back.

Since the 26 poses are focused on targeting specific areas, yoga has been found to help with diabetes, asthma, digestive issues, menopause, hot flashes, high blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, and scar tissue build up.
